Privacy Policy

The Buried mobile application ("Buried" or "the app") is developed and operated by Alvin Armanni ("I," "me," or "developer"). This privacy policy explains how your information is handled when you use the app. Buried is built with a privacy-first, on-device architecture.

1. Zero Data Collection

Buried operates entirely on your device. I do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal data. All photos, videos, text, and GPS coordinates you save inside a time capsule remain strictly on your device. I do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking.

2. Location Services

Buried needs access to your device's location (GPS) to lock and unlock time capsules and to show the compass when you are near a capsule.

I do not track your movements in the background.
Your location is not sent to or stored on any server I operate.
Location is only used on your device to compare your position to capsule coordinates when you try to open a capsule or use map/explore features.

3. Camera and Photo Library

Buried requests access to your camera and photo library only so you can attach photos or videos to your time capsules. The app does not scan your library or access media you do not explicitly choose to attach.

4. Data Stored on Your Device and Backups

Your capsules and media are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app will permanently delete that data from the app. If you use iCloud device backups, your device backup may include app data according to your Apple ID settings; I do not control or access those backups. I cannot recover lost capsules or data.

5. Data Retention

I do not retain any of your data because I do not collect it. Any data you create exists only on your device (and, if you use them, in your own iCloud/device backups).

6. Legal Basis (EU / UK)

For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom: I do not process your personal data on my servers. Any use of location or media on your device is necessary to provide the app’s core functionality (geo-locking and compass). I do not rely on consent for off-device processing because there is no such processing.

7. Your Rights (EU / UK / California and others)

Because I do not collect or store your data:

Access, correction, deletion: I hold no data about you. To delete your data, delete the relevant content in the app or uninstall the app.
EU/UK: You may have the right to complain to a supervisory authority in your country.
California: I do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The app does not collect personal information that would trigger a "sale" or "share" under California law.

8. Children

Buried is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact me; the only data would be on the child’s device and can be removed by deleting the app.

9. Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. I do not collect email addresses, so I will indicate changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after the date of the updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
